(1858, Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum) in Weston, Lewis County, WV. On the NW side of River Av. 0.1 miles SW of 2nd St. at 50. This is the largest hand cut masonry bldg in North America. It was built to house 250 patients but had over 2400 patients in the 1950s. The asylum closed in 1994 & put on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
