MT-01-01 Beaverhead Lima   1930s ?? ??? W. of Lima. Octagon chicken coop. Built by the Norman family as a brooder house.
MT-05-01 Carbon Red Lodge   1940 06-2003 N45 13.15 W109 14.53 N. of Red Lodge. US212 N. 1.7 miles from jct with MT78 in Red Lodge to the barn on the W. side of the road. True round barn, 2 story, restaurant, brick, conical roof, small cupola, rectangular addition to one side, excellent condition.
MT-08-01 Chouteau Carter 83' 1917 1994 N48 00.56 W111 19.28 E. of Brady (Pondera County). MT365 (Brady East becomes Brady Rd.) E. 23.6 miles from jct with I15 exit 328 just E. of Brady, S. on MT225 (Bootlegger Trail) 1.5 miles to the barn on the E. side of the road. Rossmiller, true round barn, unpainted vertical siding, 2-pitch conical roof, wood shingles, windowed cupola, very large dormer entranceway, roofing almost gone, structure appears good, very poor condition. Built from two rail carloads of lumber shipped from Eureka to Brady. Framed with 2-by-6 studs. One side of the barn housed cows, weaning calves filled the other side, & horses were stabled in between. (7-25-07 - Chuck Haney photographed the barn recently for a new book, Big Sky Barns, and the roof is almost completely caved in. The family would like to save it but don't have funds to restore it.)

MT-27-01 Lincoln Libby 130' 1978 09-2005 N48 22.33 W115 32.62 In the Libby Heritage Museum S. of Libby. US2 S. 1.4 miles from jct with MT37 (California Av.) in Libby to the barn on the E. side of the road at 1367. 12 sided barn, log sides, large cupola.
MT-27-02   Eureka     09-2005 approximate N48 54.32 W115 03.08 N. of Eureka. US93 N. 1.7 miles from jct with 3rd St. in Eureka & the house is about ¼ mile to the E. Round house, white, conical roof, low cupola.
MT-29-01 Madison Twin Bridges 100' 1884 ?? N45 34.21 W112 18.82 N. of Twin Bridges. MT41 (Main St.) N. 0.25 miles (4 blocks) from jct with MT287 in Twin Bridges, E. on 9th Av. (2 blocks), NE on Bayers Ln. 1.75 miles to the barn on the W. side of the road. Doncaster, 16 sided barn, red vertical siding, large dormered entrance, large windowed clerestory w/large round windowed cupola, wedding cake style, very good condition. Built by Noah Armstrong to house thoroughbred racehorses. Spokane was born here in 1886 and won the Kentucky Derby in 1889. Ground level contained 24 stalls; the inner core was used for supplies. The alley could be used to exercise young horses in bad weather. The 2nd story was for hay, grain, feed, and had living quarters for groomsmen. The top level housed a water tank, which was connected to a windmill. Gravity fed water through pipes to horse stalls. Very modern for its time. Restored in 1998 for $50,000.
MT-29-02   Twin Bridges   1970s     In Madison County Fairgrounds in Twin Bridges. MT41 W. 0.1 miles from jct with MT287 (Main St.) in Twin Bridges, S. into the fairgrounds & the bldg. Octagon bldg, log. Main Hall for the fair. (N45 32.60 W112 20.00)
MT-50-01 Teton Collins 60' x 44' 1913 ?? N47 57.14 W111 49.77 NNW of Collins. 24th Rd. NE W. 3.5 miles from jct with I15 exit 321 NE of Collins to the barn on the S. side of the road up a driveway 0.25 miles. Fitzgerald, true round barn, red horizontal siding, small white-framed windows, 2 pitch conical roof, cupola, excellent condition. Built by Arthur "Big" Fitzgerald. The floor plan is "basilican" with a center alleyway and side area for stalls. The second story has an open cupola on the roof so that air can flow through the haymow. Originally two large doors were used for an easy in, easy out approach where hay was loaded in the haymow to be thrown down later to the livestock below. The original cost of the barn $1600. In 1919 Fitz added a shed built by Ned Marshall going one-third the distance around the circumference. It was re-shingled, repaired, and repainted in 1989.
MT-55-01 Wibaux Wibaux     2007 very approximate N46 58.26 W104 11.34 Near Wibaux. Off Hwy 7. Octagon barn, unpainted vertical siding, 2 small windows in each side, large silo extends through roof, roof caved in on silo, fair condition.
