| (No. 17, 600', 35-04-xx) across Ashtabula River Gulf SE of Ashtabula, Ashtabula/Plymouth Township, Ashtabula County, OH. Ridge Rd. (OH84) SE 0.4 miles from jct with OH11 on the SE side of Ashtabula, SE (left - curves NE) on State Rd. 0.6 miles to the bridge. The longest such span in the United States. The two-lane bridge will be big, wide, & tall enough for tractor-trailers to pass each other. A windowed walkway will be set securely into the peak of the bridge’s roof, giving pedestrians a spectacular view of the Ashtabula River valley from both sides of the structure. From the outside, it will give the impression of a smaller bridge, set atop the main bridge. There will be a spiral staircase on one side, to permit pedestrian access to the walkway, and an elevator or lift system on the other side, for handicapped accessibility.
