| This picture was dated 1913. The property was owned by my Grandparents, Elmer & Josephine Trible. It was purchased by them from William Waterfield. Census record show they lived here in 1910. In the picture are sons Kenneth and my father Harold. Grandma Joe is in the Veranda. Grandpa Elmer is standing with hands on his hips. I have seen on some sites that this house had been used as a hotel in the early 1900. To the best of my knowledge this is not true. The stucco was applied and the veranda removed after it was sold by Kenneth in early 1950s. The Veranda went all of the way around the house. |

I remember sitting on it and watching a Calvary unit move by on the road on the way to bivac in Grandpas pasture. The house was built with limestone that was quarried south of the house. Mr. Waterfield had heated and burned the marrow (fine limestone dust) to make the cement to hold the rock together. My Grandfather used to take me on walks around the property and many a picnic was held by the family at Poyner Creek which flowed through the farm. I am going to be 78 yrs old in July. My memory is excellent.
